'Pure Grooves' is where James indulges in his favourite genre of music. This is a Disco/Jazz Funk/Soul show, with a bias towards the 70s-80s era, although James has been known to play tracks from the 90s and even the 2000s if it fits the style he's playing. James was a teen when Disco took over the world, and immersed himself in the scene and loved the music of the time. So you'll find that a lot of love goes into the 'Pure Grooves' shows. And a lot of memories will come flooding back of the good times!

'Sunday Shake Up' is James' Sunday Show. 2 hours long, the first hour comprises of those Smooth & Chilled tunes to ease you into the afternoon, after that, you never really know what's gonna be next as he takes requests from the listeners and mixes them with the usual formula of Jazz Funk Soul & Disco. Every now and then he'll do a special such as a recent Motown set.

So who is James Murphy?

James Murphy is your host. He is also the owner of Impact Disco, a Weymouth-based
business. He has loved music since he was a young child. As a 3 year old, James had his first record player, and was known to be able to name the ‘A’ sides of records when just shown the ‘B’ sides - at a time when he couldn’t even read!

Building a large collection of records, James first started doing discos as a 17 year old. He spent a summer as resident disco in a club in Weymouth, where he started to learn about the art of DJing. After four years, and with a wife, James left DJing behind and got a ‘real job’.However, this didn’t stop him collecting his records, and when they arrived, CDs.

In January 2006, James returned to the world of Mobile Discos, developing Impact Disco into what it is today. In January 2009, James decided to get involved in online Radio as hobby, and has quickly been taken on by various stations.

Expect to hear tunes from the 70s, 80s and 90s with the occasional newer tunes thrown in and now and then something from those 60s soul days. You'll hear those classics as well as those lesser known, but equally gorgeous sounds.
