James
Murphy, the owner of Impact Disco, has loved music since he was a young
child. As a 3 year old, James had his first record player, and was known
to be able to name the ‘B’ sides of records when just shown the ‘A’
sides - at a time when he couldn’t even read!
Building a large collection of records, James first started doing discos
as a 17 year old. He spent a summer as resident disco in a club in
Weymouth, where he started to learn about the art of DJing. After a four
years, and with a wife, James left DJing behind and got a ‘real job’.
However, this didn’t stop him collecting his records, and when they
arrived, CDs.
During the summer of 1991, James donated some of his excess records to
his local Hospital Radio Station. He was offered the chance to take a
look around the studio by the then Chairman. It was this visit that got
him back into the field of DJing. During the conversation with the
Chairman, James said that he was once ran a disco, and was invited to
become a member of Hospital Radio and do his own show.
In October 1991, James started his radio show on Hospital Radio, and in
the next five years, he did many shows and also did a charity Marathon
over an August Bank Holiday. Highlights of his time on Hospital Radio
were interviewing the likes of Bradley Walsh (who said that James had a
great face for radio!) to Tom Baker and Brian Conley as well as many
other celebrities who visited the studio during the summer seasons in
Weymouth.
In January 2006, James returned to the world of Mobile Discos,
developing Impact Disco into what it is today. James is a great believer
in giving the client what they want, and works hard to ensure he can
provide the quality of entertainment they require. In fact, if James
doesn’t feel that he can provide what the client wants, he’ll turn down
the event and try to pass you on to a suitable replacement, rather than
give a sub-standard performance.
James has experience of dealing with all age groups, having completed
two summer seasons at a Holiday Park at Charmouth as well as his
Thursday night residency at a Weymouth club.

James has done discos in the last year at Kempton Park Racecourse,
Athelhampton House and Weymouth Pavilion, was booked to do all Christmas
Parties at East Close Country Hotel, near Christchurch as well as New
Year’s Eve at a Heathrow Hotel, so generally, distance is not an object.
James, will listen to your requirements, and when you’re thinking of
booking us, he’ll give you an Event Questionnaire and ask questions to
make sure he knows exactly what you want to achieve with your event. He
will then work with you to get the desired effect. He also gives out
request sheets so that your guests can choose the music they want to
dance to.
If you’re looking for a DJ who will do their very best to ensure your
event will be a success, James will be more than happy to discuss your
requirements.
Impact Disco may be dearer than some others, but our prices remain
competitive as well as realistic for the high quality and professional
service we provide. You can be assured that the peace of mind you’ll
have, knowing you have booked a professional, who wants your event to be
a success, will be well worth that bit more!
"James was absolutely
brilliant in every respect! I would have absolutely no hesitation in
recommending him to anyone for any occasion. Coming from someone who
does not give praise away lightly, that is quite an accolade!"
